Status and a suggestions list

June 6, 2011: A 14% rise in flight passengers the first 4 months of 2011 compared to 2010, most bound for international destinations, and emission of CO2 to air in 2010 an all time high.As expected our prime minister commented, and no focus in media on a possible connection to drought, flood, heat and other extreme weather reported from China and USA.
Electrical heated pavements and driveways are many times part of new homes and official buildings raised in all our towns. The intention is of course good, to melt snow in winter time.Though, in the serious climate perspective we face it is not a sustainable measure to take. The winter in central eastern Europe and Russia is far colder than in our coastal towns where climate is moderated by closeness to the sea, and if we are allowed, others are too.A suggestion about this fact added to the list.
Also jobs in health and services the last couple of years increasingly are occupied by skilled and sympathetic individuals living abroad, but commuting far distance by flight between job and home say every third week.A possible action to be taken in consideration by politicians around this issue therefore also added to the suggestions list.
I believe our earth must behave almost like the crew on Apollo 13 did - close down to a minimum and orbit the sun several decades before slowly opening up again. It is still possible but the window of opportunity will soon close, as UN Secretary-General Ban-ki Moon expressed it in his opening remarks in Cancún last year. And the suggestions below are not unreasonable.

To lower CO2 footprint one could:

Impose individuals a flight travel quote
Make video conferencing mandatory when possible
Stop building heated pavements and driveways
Welcome a foreign work force, but expect settleing down after a while, and do not allow continued far distance commuting
